SURVEY ON KNOWLEDGE AND ATTITUDES TOWARDS TUBERCULOSIS PREVENTION IN PULMONARY TUBERCULOSIS PATIENTS IN NAM DINH PROVINCE IN 2017

Abstract

Objective: Describing knowledge and attitude of tuberculosis patients toward the prevention of tuberculosis infection in community and Surveying some relevant factors in knowledge and attitude of tuberculosis patients toward the prevention of tuberculosis infection in community. Methods: The research is carried out with simple and efficient sample selection method on 304 patients of tuberculosis in Tuberculosis Department – Nam Dinh Lung Hospital from March to June 2017. It consists of two contents: knowledge and attitude of tuberculosis patients toward the prevention of this disease’s infection in communit. Results: Among 304 participators, of which 21.1 percent are women, 78.9 percent are men and 69.7 percent live in rural areas. Lowest knowledge score of is 7, meanwhile the highest is 34 (total score of 37), ) X ± SD is 17.3 ± 4.56, ratio of acceptable knowledge per person (≥ 50% of total score) accounts for 35.2%. The highest and absolute score (equal to total score) in attitude is 12, while the lowest score in this aspect is 1), ± SD is 6.3 ± 2.14; with 69.1% who pass the survey. Conclusions: it’s essential to raise patient’s awareness in various forms, especially for those who are over 60, under senior qualification or first-time acquiring the disease.
