Research and application of direct mercury analyzer (DMA-80) quickly determination of total mercury contents in dietary supplements

Abstract

The Direct Mercury Analyzer (DMA-80) was studied and investigated to quickly and accurately determine the total mercury content in health supplements. The method shows high specificity, and the calibration curve has a good correlation coefficient with R² greater than 0.995; the limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) were 1.88 µg/kg and 6.26 µg/kg, respectively; The relative repeatability standard deviation (RSR_r) was in the range of 2.46 - 7.34% and the recovery (R) was in the range of 85.7 - 100%. The method was applied to evaluate the mercury content in 39 health supplement samples taken in Hanoi city. The initial research results indicated preliminary mercury contamination in 13 health supplement products on the market in the range of 5.41 - 450 µg/kg.
