ABSTRACT
Although the metaphorical mappings are similar or different, metaphorical mappings are natural
human feelings or daily life experiences. Learning category metaphor models on abstract target
domains like LOVE also shows that in the process of understanding the world, people prefer to use
concrete experiences and familiar things to understand objects abstract abstractions, and thereby form
thinking about those abstract categories in a simple and close way. This confirms the point of Lakoff and
Johnson: “Based on conceptual metaphor theory, metaphor is a very important channel for people to
understand abstract concepts and think abstractly…” (Lakoff) & Johnson 1980)
