ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study is to identify and measure the factors that influence students’ intention to
take online classes. The study is based on the combination of The unified theory of acceptance and use of
technology UTAUT model and the perceived costs. The survey was conducted with the participation of 311
students. Five key factors were discovered that influence students’ intention to take online classes including:
perceived costs, facilitating conditions, performance expectancy, effort expectancy, and social influence.
The results suggested that perceived costs has the strongest impact on intention to take online classes, in
contrast to previous studies that found it weak or absent (Luarn and Lin, 2005; Compeau and Higgins, 1995
; Tiwari 2020); facilitating conditions, performance expectancy and effort expectancy have a significant
impact; while social influence has aweak impact on theintention of taking online classes compared with the
structuresof the UTAUT model mentioned above (Davis et al., 1989; Toh, 2013; Venkatesh et al., 2003).
