Abstract

The study applied six physical fitness
assessment criteria outlined in the Comprehensive
Physical Fitness and Health Development Project
for the Vietnamese people during the 2011-2030
period and in Decision 53/2008/QD-BGD&DT of
the Ministry of Education and Training to evaluate
the physical fitness status of students in the 48th
cohort of the Can Tho University of Medicine and
Pharmacy. The results indicated that the number
of students meeting the physical fitness standards
for each criterion was, on average, moderate.
However, there was a significant proportion
of students who did not meet the standards for
several criteria (male students with 2 criteria,
female students with 5 criteria). On the other hand,
the percentage of students meeting the standards
at a good level and above average was somewhat
satisfactory (males 65%, females 67.9%), while
the proportion of students not meeting the overall
physical fitness standards remained relatively high
