Integrating gender equality education into Biology subject of grade 11 improved personal views of students in Tra Vinh province

Abstract
Gender equality in Vietnam has improved significantly thanks to the strong commitment of the Government, efforts by civil society over the last few decades. However, the gender gap is still quite large. This study aims to identify the status and necessity of integrating gender equality in teaching in Tra Vinh province, identifying addresses of integrating gender equality in chapter Reproduction - Biology grade 11 helps students change their perceptions. A cross-sectional study conducted on 198 students and 30 teachers showed that students in Tra Vinh were aware of gender equality issues in Vietnam and desired to learn this content integrating in Biology grade 11 curriculum. However, 36.7% of teachers in Tra Vinh have never, and 40% of teachers rarely integrated gender equality in teaching. This study has identified addresses of integrating gender equality in chapter Reproduction - Biology grade 11. After integrating gender equality in chapter Reproduction - Biology grade 11, students have got positive changes in personal opinion.
