General education program year 2018 with traditional value education through art works for primary students

Abstract

Traditional values are beautiful values representing a nation’s cultural identity and it must be preserved and promoted. General Education Program Year 2018 has clearly pointed out Vietnam as set of traditional values that students in general and primary students in particular need to be taught; those are 5 qualities of patriotism, kindness, hard-working, honesty and responsibility. There are different ways to teach 5 core qualities, including education throuh art works. This paper focuses on analyzing the advantages provided by General Education Program Year 2018 in traditional value education through art works for primary students. Especially, this paper also points out the ways to teach traditional values through art works for primary students in General Education Program Year 2018; which includes Art classes and other classes, as well as Experience Activities, a compulsory educational activity in primary school.
