MODEL OF THE “LEADERS OF CHANGE CLUB” FOR CHILDREN CASE STUDY OF LAI CHAU PROVINCE
Abstract
The paper presents input research results of Project 8 “Implementing gender
equality and solving urgent problems for women and children” - under the National Target
Program on socio-economic development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas for the
period of 2021-2030. The research methods include document analysis and conducting
a questionnaire survey of 60 students (30 male, 30 female), in-depth interviews with one
male student, one female student and one teacher from Nam Xe Secondary School, Nam Xe
Commune, Phong Tho District, Lai Chau Province. The article consists of 3 main contents:
(1) Situation of activities of the club “Leaders of Change”; (2) Children’s participation
and outcomes of clubs; (3) Children’s difficulties in joining the club. Some main findings:
“Leadership of Change Club” model is built at the secondary schools in the areas; the goal
of the activities is improving the knowledge and skills of gender equality for boys and girls;
the contents of activities are relatively diverse; the facilities are simple and easy to invest. The
model has reached positive effects. This model also is chosen by the Vietnam Women’s Union
to continue to build and develop
