Abstract

The study was carried out with a sample size of 1,744 high school students fom different high schools in rural areas of 6 northern provinces in 2020. The results show that there are important factors affecting students’ career orientation, including market demand and high capacity to apply for jobs, income and opportunities fom occupations, jobs with the appropriate capacity ,and forte -, ability to contribute to growth through their work. However, the study also indicates that family tradition no longer is an important pressure affecting students’ orientation. Noticeably, there is litle gender difference in the assessment of the importance of the factors mentioned above. In addition, female students think that it is
not too important to choose a career that is appropriate for their gender or avoid hard work and jobs with difculties in the future. Te research results express the positive signals in the students’ future career choices and suggest effective strategic solutions for students’ career orientation in the near future as well.
