Some issues regarding defense rights in Vietnamese criminal procedures

Abstract

Vietnam is oriented towards judicial reform and perfecting the legal system to build the socialist rule-of-law State of the people, by the people and for the people. A state in which human rights are respected and protected and it is not limited to political declarations and recorded in the Constitution and laws, but is also protected in practice. Human rights are an inviolable sacred value, expressed in many areas of social life, including criminal procedures. The article systematizes a number of theoretical issues on defense and the right to defense in criminal procedures, from which there are proposals to continue improving Vietnamese criminal procedure legal institutions.
