Abstract

Hungary is a source and transit country of human trafficking, for the primary purpose of sexual and labor exploitation. The European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation (Europol) has listed Hungary together with Bulgaria, Romania and Nigeria as four hot spot countries of human trafficking for sexual exploitation in recent years. Given the fact that Hungary is a country that often faces increases in illegal immigration, the Hungarian State has adopted policies to limit these risks, provide support services, and help victims of human trafficking overcome the consequences that this type of crime brings.
