ABSTRACT
The current trend of the world is gradually shifting from teaching with a content approach to teaching
with a competency approach. Discovery teaching is a teaching method that gives students the opportunity to
experience the scientific research process, creating conditions for students to reveal inherent misconceptions,
propose hypotheses, develop action plans, conduct experiments, collect information, find evidence to test the
original hypotheses, and then draw scientific conclusions. In this article, the author will propose a process
of organizing discovery teaching in the direction of fostering scientific competence in teaching Physics with
the desire to contribute to the development of students’ qualities and competencies, thereby contribute to
improving the effectiveness of Physics teaching in high school
