ABSTRACT
In order to carry out teaching History and Geography subjects in primary schools flexibly and in
accordance with the actual conditions of the school, elementary teachers need to have skills in designing
lesson plans following to the standards direction of the 2018 General Education Program. However, in
practice, there are still some teachers who have not been able to escape the influence of textbooks and teacher
books because they do not have the skills to design lessons themselves. Therefore, this article introduces
the process of developing lesson plans for History and Geography subject in a specific way. This process
consists of 5 steps: step 1 – Researching the subject program; step 2 – Identifying the topic/lesson title; step
3 – Determining the requirements to be achieved by the topic/lesson; step 4 - Selecting teaching content
and design learning materials for the lesson/topic; Step 5 – Designing the teaching activities. On that basis,
analyzing and clarifying the meaning of each step in the process and give illustrative examples.
