ABSTRACT
Situations in teaching and learning Chemistry stimulate learners to find, explain, analyze, comment,
evaluate, consider and present ideas to prevail the knowledge and apply those into real-life scenarios. Four
levels of situations are presented based on: Applying the knowledge being approached, combination of
knowledge which was learnt and being approached knowledge, applying knowledge into real-life contexts
and situations that seem impossible to resolve. Topics on biofuels, atmospheric ozone layer, medical ethanol,
ethanol concentration meter are analyzed based on four levels from low interval to high interval when
applying case-based method. When receiving the volume of ordered information and instruction from the
teacher, students will proceed to handle cases arise related to each topic from their self-experience, selfexploration

and self-discovery; even their collaboration with team as well. As a result, students will have
a fairly adequate and comprehensive knowledge system in Chemistry and real-life practise. Concurrently,
thereby contributing to enhance the students’ enthusiasm and interest in learning and research.
