THE WORLD OF CHARACTERS IN HOANG KHANH DUY SHORT STORIES

Abstract

            In Hoang Khanh Duy’s short stories, there is a world of his own characters, making deep impressions on the readers, showing the writer’s delicate vision and quite thorough understanding of the people. If today’s young writers often focus on urban youth living in a modern urban environment with changes in their lifestyle and ways of thinking contrasting with the traditional concepts, Hoang Khanh Duy spends more than half of his writing pages for the poor laborers around him. Through a survey, we found three typical types of people in Hoang Khanh Duy’s short stories: the tragic people, the alienated people and the ones with good qualities.
