Conceptual metaphor of human emotions is color in the Vietnamese language

Abstract

Conceptual metaphor in cognitive linguistics is one of the forms of conceptualization – a cognitive process whose function is to express and form new ideas. It is a cognitive mechanism, through which the logic of abstract concepts is replaced by that of more specific concepts. Conceptual metaphor is based on physical experiences. The nature of metaphor and the relationship between it and the language of expression has attracted the attention of researchers from many different angles. In the context of this scientific paper, we pay our attention to the conceptual metaphor in which color is used as a source concept associated with the domain of human emotion.
