URBAN SPACE AND SENSE OF REALITY IN NGUYEN CONG HOAN’S SATARICAL SHORT STORY

Abstract
Nguyen Cong Hoan is a master of the short story in the 1930-1945 literature period in Vietnam. One of the factors contributing to his unique narrative style is deeply exploitating of the effect of the story situation, placing the characters in different spaces so that they can express their trueself. The author have been successful in creating urban spaces, especially the theater-stage, the space in bourgeois families, homeless and street space, etc. These new areas have become factors which randomly arise in contradictions and conflicts, contributing to reveal characters’ personality and their direction in life. Accordingly, the reader receives the artistic perception of life and people from a great writer.
