DESIGNING SELF - CARE SKILLS EDUCATION PROCESS FOR CHILDREN WITH INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES IN HANOI
Abstract
Self-care is premise and essensence skills in life skills for children. Due to
attention deficit, difficult memorization, limited cognitive and thinking in children with intellectual disabilities, many of them have not yet implemented simple skills to serve themselves such as eating, drinking, going to the toilet by themselves, etc. On the basis of summary of current research on self-care skills education for children with intellectual disabilities at specialized centers, the article proposes the process of educating self-care skills for children with intellectual disabilities according to the following criteria: Principle of concentricity (includes 45 processes across 4 topics at 3 levels). Each skill is seperated into small steps, with detailed instructions and illustrated with pictures, suitable for cognitive thinking characteristics of children with intellectual disabilities, helping children develop skills, integrate in society
