THE TREND OF OCCUPATIONAL TRANSITION IN FAMILY

Abstract

Occupational transition has been one of the trends that ensure income security
and living conditions for workers and their families. This paper analyzes the curent trend
of occupational transition based on the survey results of 200 workers living in the rural
areas outside Hanoi. The findings of this study include: (1)While the change of
occupational structure within family is slow and uneven, there is an increasing trend for
workers to work in diverse occupations; (2 The occupational transition is mainly from
agriculture to non-agriculture. There is a combined transition of agriculture and nonagriculture, with the focus remaining on non-agriculture; (3)The transition is stable and
continuous in the context of socialist-oriented market economy
