Purchasing strategy in the supply chain of Vietnamese small and medium enterprises
Abstract
Supply chains have received increasing attention over the past 5 to 10 years. Besides, the purchasing strategy is also noted by businesses to be included in their business strategy. The article reviewed the literature on the supply chain and purchasing strategy. From the results of the literature review, four hypotheses were presented and tested about the relationship between purchasing strategy and components in the supply chain. The hypotheses were tested through a survey of purchasing managers, and then the results were analysed by regression method. All relationships in the hypothesis were supported. The results indicated that factors in the supply chain such as supplier responsiveness, changes in the supplier market, information exchange activities, and supplier communication, have an impact on the level of purchasing strategy that the buying firm will adopt.
