Abstract

Extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) are known as prebiotic-like compounds that promote the growth of beneficial bacteria in the intestinal tract of humans and animals. To demonstrate the prebiotic potential of EPSs produced from lactic acid bacteria, Lactobacillus plantarum and Bifidobacterium bifidum, this study demonstrated the influence of these bacteria on the immune response in shrimp to infection with pathogenic bacteria.
