Abstract

This paper presents the research results on manufacturing water chiller and studies the effect of fan operating conditions on the performance of a design and erection of an experimental air-cooled chiller. The coefficient of performance (COP) of the air-cooled chiller operating at a condensation temperature of 47.35°C and the inlet evaporation temperature of 4.17°C is 2.41. The results show that the air velocity entering the condenser has a significant effect on heat transfer. When the air velocity increases, the subcooled temperature, and the COP increases whilst the condensation pressure decreases. For example, when the air velocity through the condenser is 0.6 m/s, the COP is 2.23. When the air velocity is 1 m/s, about 67% increment, the COP increases 8.8% and reaches a value of 2.43.
