RECLAMATION POLICIES OF NGUYEN DYNASTY IN COCHINCHINA 1802 - 1840 (AN ANALYSE BASED ON IMPERIAL ARCHIVES OF NGUYEN DYNASTY)

Abstract

Through Imperial Archives of the Nguyen Dynasty, the article studies a number of reclamation policies implemented by the Nguyen Dynasty in Cochinchina (Tomb of the people establishing a plantation; Support tools, rice seeds for new residents to land; Bringing prisoners from the whole country to Cochinchina to open up). As results, the cultivation area and rice production increased, many new villages and communes were formed, and order and security were maintained in key border areas.
