THE DEVELOPMENT POTENTIAL OF THE INDUSTRY OF RECYCLING MUNICIPAL SOLID WASTE IN HO CHI MINH CITY

Abstract

Recycling is considered as a feasible solution to sustainable management of solid waste and to reach the goal of “a circular economy”, at which many countries around the world have aimed. In order to increase the proportion of recycling municipal solid waste, the development of modern recycle industry should be taken into consideration. In Ho Chi Minh City, the output of solid waste has significantly gone up, together with increasing possibility of recycling. Additionally, citizens have obtained certain knowledge and interest in recycling; people’s behavior towards recyclable wastes is changing in a positive direction… These facts seem to be elements of promoting recycling activities in the future.
