PATTERNS OF USING TIME FOR INCOME-GENERATING ACTIVITIES OF ELDERLY PEOPLE IN CAN THO CITY

Abstract

One dimensions of elderly life is the pattern of using time for income-generating activities. By analyzing survey data from 399 older individuals aged 60 to 75 years old who are still involved in economic activities (with the majority of them engaged in self-trading/business, paid labor activities, and self-employed in agriculture) with the average time spent on these activities for about 385 minutes per day on weekdays and 362 minutes per day on the weekend, the article has proposed a number of suggestions indicating policies to take care for the elderly in order to accomplish the aim of successful aging.
