IMPACT OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC ON MENTAL HEALTH

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic is having profound impacts on all areas of social life and human health. This article examines the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic on mental health by analyzing some research results in the world and assessing the situation in Vietnam. The assessment shows that minimizing the long-term and dangerous impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on psychological distress and mental health of people and health workers is an urgent and prioritized requirement to stabilize the public health and the society. The article proposes some solutions to limit the negative impact of the pandemic on mental health, especially when society has to live together with COVID-19 in the new normal.
