CURRENT STATUS OF LABOR LAW IN THE SMALLHOLDING RUBBER AREA

Abstract

The rubber production and processing industry is one of the most important agro-forestry production sectors in Vietnam. The natural rubber production chain includes the production, processing, export and domestic consumption, in which many economic sectors are involved in the production, but mainly state-owned enterprises (a majority part belong to Vietnam Rubber Industry Group) and households plantations (also known as minority rubber growers). The article explores the provisions of the labor legislation applicable to the smallholder rubber plantation in comparison with the rubber business / industrial farming sector, and the status of their application. Some policy proposals to protect the rights of workers in the smallholder rubber sector are also given in this article.
