OCCUPATIONAL ADAPTATION OF INHABITANTS IN AN URBANIZING ENVIRONMENT (Survey of Tan Tao A Ward, Binh Tan District, Ho Chi Minh City in 2007 - 2017)

Abstract

From analyzing the qualitative information of three generations of five rural-origin households turning into urban residents in the post-urbanization period in Tan Tao A ward, Binh Tan district, Ho Chi Minh city, the article explores the occupational adaptation and educational orientation of these members in the urban environment and the process of changing household awareness to access new careers. This shows that economic mobility and living conditions have changed the first-generation’s perceptions of careers and education, thus increasing a certain amount of investment from first generation for the second and third generations to have the sustainable development foundations for their future.
