IMPACT OF SOCIAL FACTOR ON THE LANGUAGE CHOICE OF IMMIGRANT COMMUNITIES IN THE UNITED STATES

Abstract

Dominant language in the United States (English) is a privileged domain for investigating the choice of language change in the immigrant community. However, it still has to acknowledge the important role of languages ​​other than English. Studying specific cases of language use habits in the Vietnamese community, the article concerns issues such as: changes in vocative ways; how to greet each family; the transfer of social information. Especially, social related factors are ones that directly affect the language in a multicultural society like the United States.
