PRELIMINARY RESEARCH ON BỬU SƠN KỲ HƯƠNG RELIGION IN VIỆT NAM’S SOUTHWESTERN REGION

Abstract

Most compiled documentations and studies of South Vietnam’s local religions in general and Buu Son Ky Huong in particular only mention the Buu Son Ky Huong religion that was founded by Doan Van Huyen (Doan Minh Huyen). However, there are a number of religious branches founded in the historical process of this religion, including the Buu Son Ky Huong Thuong Lac. This religious branch originated and inherited from the religious thought of Buu Son Ky Huong religion of Doan Minh Huyen, but has many differences. This article shows basic contents of Buu Son Ky Huong Thuong Lac in some aspects: the history of its birth, characteristics of religious thought, and worshiping rituals.
