CURRENT SITUATION OF DISASTER PREVENTION EDUCATION FOR SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN THE CENTRAL OF VIET NAM AND CENTRAL HIGHLANDS

Abstract

This study assessed the current disaster prevention education situation for secondary school students in the Central and Central Highlands. Survey results on 274 teachers and 1387 students in 7 provinces from September to December 2021 show that students' knowledge, awareness and skills in disaster prevention are still limited. The current disaster prevention education in schools is mainly done occasionally, and the educational effectiveness is not as high as expected. However, most teachers and students are adequately aware of the importance of disaster prevention education and wish to participate effectively in this activity. The research results are the basis for proposing appropriate educational measures for secondary school students in localities where natural disasters frequently occur.
