Abstract

The article presents the research results on designing and organizing the competence-based learning and assessment in teaching Biology at secondary school. Using theoretical research method, methods of investigation by questionnaires, experiment, observation, research of learning products and mathematical statistics, the research has shown that when teachers apply competence-based active teaching methods and techniques (such as project-based teaching, role-playing, experiment, practical teaching, case study, tablecloth techniques, mind map, puzzle pieces, gallery techniques, etc.) and assessment strategies in the direction of combining many different assessment methods, forms,  and tools, they can help students develop general competencies and professional competencies related to Biology, enhance their learning interest
