Abstract

Along with the reform of general education and the emphasis on quality education, school-based teacher training has gained increasing attention in China. This study examines the school based teacher training model at a secondary school in Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province. The findings reveal that teacher training at the studied school is conducted through a diverse range of methods and content, with teachers’ efforts and dedication being promptly recognized. Notably, the training integrates scientific theoretical foundations with practical teaching experience, guided by university experts as well as senior educators from within and outside the region. However, there remains a need for schools to enhance teacher empowerment in planning, emphasize more personalized training, and align professional development with teachers’ needs. The findings of this study offer valuable insights for the implementation of school-based teacher training in Vietnam.
