Abstract

In recent years, using index method for quantitative assessment of natural disaster risks, especially vulnerability has been applied by many scientists. Weighting of criteria is the key issue to determine the importance level of the component criteria in calculating vulnerability. However, most of studies usually apply subjective or objective weight calculation methods. The limited subjective weight is dependent on the assessors judgment and subjective perception, while the objective weight is highly dependent on the pattern data. Combined weights are integrated in the fuzzy variables identification patterns, in order to limit the disadvantages of the two above methods, leading to higher the assessment results. This paper focuses on calculating the combination of subjective weights (AHP method and binary comparison method) and objective weights (Entropy method and fuzzy variables method) based on the principle of minimum identity message and then applying to weight for saline intrusion vulnerability in some communes along Ma river. The results showed that the coastal communes of Ma River clearly reflected saline intrusion vulnerability against disasters, consistent with actual situation. This proves that the application of combined weights in the calculation process is the appropriate approach.
