RESEARCH RESULTS OF DRYING PADDY SEEDS ON ENERGY-SAVING TOWER DRYING SYSTEM

Abstract

This paper presents the results of research on a paddy seed drying system with
high heat exchange efficiency and energy saving. The unique point of this research
is the multi-channel tower dryers designed on the same drying system. In addition,
the drying process is divided into many stages, thus improving the efficiency of the
moisture heat exchange process, thereby shortening the drying time to only 50 - 55
hours instead of 72 - 90 hours in comparison with tower dryers imported from Korea
and European countries with the same capacity of 20 tons/drying. Specific results
give us the following parameters: drying time 50 - 55h (with input moisture before
drying w1 from 24 - 27%), moisture reduction rate 0.75 - 1.25%/h, the energy cost
(converted to coal) is about 20-30kg/h, the drying quality is good with the rate of
this germ reaching about 88.5 - 95%. Other results: (i) The rate of measurement to
assess the dryness of the dried product reaches the uniformity of about 99.69%; (ii)
the rate of grain cracking and crumbling is about 0.15% and 1.25%, respectively; (iii)
the fuel saving rate is about 15 - 17% compared to the calculation results of the
mathematical model in this study, about 17 - 28% compared to the imported lines
from Korea, China and Europe.
