Abstract

The research paper focuses on the design and manufacture of a device for
creating truncated cones from sheet metal using multi-point incremental forming
(TPIF) at room temperature. The study investigates the impact of wall angle on
the quality and geometric accuracy of the product. The research examines the
shaping ability of Al1050 aluminum sheet metal in the TPIF process under the
same technological conditions. The results indicate that using a 0.5mm thick
aluminum sheet metal with wall angles less than or equal to 60° under the same
technological regime does not lead to material failure and allows for almost
unlimited shaping ability. However, as the wall angle increases, the material
exhibits cracking, and at 90°, the cracking becomes significant but shallow. These
findings provide design limitations for parts made from Al1050 aluminum sheet
metal using the TPIF process.
