Abstract

Microfluidic system is an emerging technology for the fabrication of
microparticles for drug delivery systems. In this study, we set out to use a microfluidic
device to fabricate alginate microparticles for encapsulation of garlic extract. The
morphology of microparticles was evaluated by optical microscopy, scanning
electron microscopy (SEM), and X-ray scattering spectroscopy (EDS-Mapping). The
content of garlic extract in the microparticles was evaluated through UV-Vis
absorption spectroscopy analysis. Overall, the present investigation demonstrates
the successful development of garlic extract microparticles as an effective and cost-
effective method for drug and functional food delivery.
