Abstract

In this work, a new algorithm for evaluating the effects of various factors on the
engine power and NOx emissions of a common rail diesel engine is introduced. The
impacts of eight factors (speed, torque, IMEP, the highest explosion pressure, air-fuel
equivalence ratio, the start of injection, duration of injection, and BSFC) on engine power
and NO
x emissions are evaluated by fuzzy grey membership grades. The result showed
that the affect rank on the engine power is the BSFC, torque, IMEP, speed, duration of
injection, the highest explosion pressure, the start of injection and air-fuel equivalence
ratio. Moreover, the affect rank on the NOx emissions is the BSFC, speed, IMEP, torque, the
highest explosion pressure, duration of injection, the start of injection and air-fuel
equivalence. This work is very useful for optimizing the performance and emissions
characteristics base on operating parameters of diesel engines.
