Abstract

In training Pharmacy students, preparation is one of the key subjects in both theory and practice. The purpose of this study was to formulate and evaluate paracetamol tablets 325 mg at the laboratory scale with available equipment of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Nguyen Tat Thanh University in order to improve the lecture “Pharmaceutical manufacturing 2nd practice”. The optimal formulation containing 325 mg of paracetamol, 27.5 mg of amidone, 27.5 mg of lactose, 14 mg of PVP K30, talc and magnesium stearate (11) with a ratio of 1.5% were used for lubricating. Tablets are prepared by wet granulation method using ethanol as the granulating liquid and pelletizing by a rotary tablet press with 8 punches. The granules had good flow properties and satisfactory compressibility resulting in tablets with less variation in uniformity. The finished product paracetamol 325 mg tablets achieve quality targets according to the Treatise on Paracetamol Tablets - Vietnam Pharmacopoeia IV, uniform in mass, thickness, diameter and hardness; has good drug release and dissolution ability (over 95% paracetamol dissolves after 45 minutes).
