Survey the situation of using antibiotics in outpatient prescriptions at The Nhi Dong 2

Abstract

In Vietnam, the higher state of ìnectious diseases, ranking second (16.7%) only after cardiovascular diseases (18.4%). Children are a very special patient group that need to control strictly in the appropriate use of antibiotics to avoid drug resistance. The Nhi Dong 2 is one of the hospitals that having most children in Ho Chi Minh City. Therefore, we doing this project to investigate the situation of antibiotic using in outpatient treatment, offering solutions to a rational and effective use of antibiotics. And this is the result:

* Patient's characteristics: Patients of highest age group: 12 - 72 months, including of 75.0%, the rate of boys who have the disease (61.0%) is higher than girls (39.0%), most of the children having a standard weight seize about 86.0%.

* The situation of antibiotic use in outpatient treatment: The most used antibiotic is the Penicillin group, of which Amoxicillin - Clavulanate seize about 39.2%. The highest antibiotic prescription was 86.6%. The combination of the two selected antibiotics, Aumentin + Azithromycin, seize about 18.8%. Acute pharyngitis is taking highest percentage of children's diseases in this survey, about 28.5%.
