Abstract

Ha Giang province has the third largest tea production area in the country. More than 90% of the provincial tea cultivation within the area is the special local variety of Shan Tuyet tea. Most of Shan Tuyet tea grows on the high mountains, where there are favorable conditions for organic tea production and processing. Since tea is the main crop of the province, Ha Giang has had many activities to support, develop and produce organic tea. The Shan Tuyet tea business in Ha Giang has yielded encouraging results, including exporting the tea products to international markets. However, the conservation and development of Ha Giang Shan Tuyet tea still has limitations, the integration is not good in production, the product is not abundant, and many domestic consumers do not know the full value of this local special tea variety. After analyzing the advantages, difficulties, opportunities and challenges of developing organic Shan Tuyet tea in Ha Giang province, the article has proposed some solutions in order to sustain development of tea production in general and organic tea in particular.
