Needs of skills for students of Hotel Management: fact and requirements for training at university education institutions

Abstract

This study identifies essential skill groups of students in hotel management, including: reasoning, analyzing and problem solving skills; knowledge discovery and research skills; system thinking skills; teamwork and communication skills and career skills. Research on 161 sample survey was conducted for three target groups: (i) officials and managers working at hotels; (ii) experts, scientists, lecturers and (iii) alumni have studied Hotel Management. Observed variables are considered for reliability with Cronbach's Alpha coefficients; One-way ANOVA analysis was used to examine differences in the assessment of the target groups. The research results show that communication skills, teamwork and occupational skills are highly appreciated and necessary with average values of 4.6460 \ 5.0 and 4.6071\5.0 respectively. This is the basis for determining the desired level of employers for the necessary skills of students after graduation, and at the same time the training units implement training programs in accordance with the needs of society
