Quality of academic counseling under the student’s view

Abstract

This study aims to understand students' assessment of the quality of academic advising, a case study Nong Lam University. Mixed methods research was applied. Quantitative data is collected by survey methods and analyzed by statistical techniques. Qualitative data was collected through group discussions and in-depth interviews and analyzed using text analysis techniques. Research results show that students at the school are relatively satisfied and highly appreciate the quality of academic counseling. However, there are still shortcomings in this activity such as: The advisors have to work part-time so the time for class is limited and the counseling content is still limited. Most of students would like to meet and interact regularly with his academic adviser. The results of this analysis help the school to consider, find out in detail and propose policies and ways to further improve the quality of academic counseling
