Theoretical and practical issues regarding international law on marine safety & security
Abstract
Being a coastal country with more than one million square kilometers maritime zones, Vietnam has been a member of the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea. Given that, the study and reseach on maritime safety and security always has theoretical and practical implications. This article focuses on researching the sources of international law governing maritime safety and security; researching law harmonization and its impacts on the fight against illegal acts infringing on international maritime safety and security. The content of this article can be used for training, lecturing and scientific researching purposes, which would contribute to the process of making Vietmese laws to be close to international conventions on maritime safety and security.
