The Fourth Industrial Revolution, driven by artificial intelligence (AI), is
transforming every aspect of society, including education, particularly the role of teachers.
Moving beyond their traditional function as knowledge transmitters, teachers are increasingly
becoming learning guides, creators of personalized learning environments, mentors for
developing critical thinking skills, and socio-emotional advisors who inspire students' passion
for discovery. This paper analyses the evolving role of teachers amidst rapid AI advancements,
evaluates the challenges and opportunities AI presents to the teaching profession, and proposes
recommendations for professional development to strengthen teachers’ effectiveness in the
digital era.
