The rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) is bringing about profound
transformations across all areas of life, including the field of social sciences and humanities
(SSH). In terms of opportunities, AI supports the processing of big data, simulates human
behaviors, and enhances both quantitative and qualitative analysis, thereby opening up new
directions for interdisciplinary research. Furthermore, AI contributes to the rapid and creative
dissemination of social science knowledge to the public. However, AI also presents significant
challenges to SSH research, such as the risk of overdependence on technology, the diminishing
role of deep human analysis, ethical issues in research, and data bias. This paper identifies both
the opportunities and challenges facing SSH in the age of AI and proposes solutions to enhance
research activities in response to the accelerating development of artificial intelligence.
