In the context of increasingly deep international integration, English has
become an essential tool that enables Vietnamese students to access global knowledge and
participate in international work environments. Alongside this, the remarkable development of
science and technology, especially artificial intelligence (AI), is opening up new opportunities
in the field of education. For Saigon University, applying AI tools in designing English speaking
skill lessons is a promising direction to enhance training quality. AI can support students in
practicing pronunciation, building dialogues, and developing critical thinking and reasoning
skills. However, the role of the lecturer remains central in selecting, adjusting, and integrating
AI appropriately into the teaching process to match students' needs and proficiency levels.
This article focuses on clarifying the supportive role of AI in designing interactive learning
scenarios, thereby innovating teaching methods, increasing learner autonomy, and contributing
to the effectiveness of teaching English speaking skills at Saigon University.
