Factors associated with adherence to antidepressant treatment in patients with recurrent depressive disorder at the National Institute of Mental Health in 2020

Abstract

Objectives: Analyse was some of the related factors adherence to antidepressant treatment in patients with recurrent depressive disorder at the National Institute of Mental Health in 2020.

Material and Methods: Cross-sectional descriptive study.

Results: Study on 313 patients showed that some of the related factors adherence to antidepressant treatment were incomes (p<0,05; OR=2,88; 95% CI (1,82 – 4,56)), distances (p<0,05; OR=3,24; 95% CI (1,88 – 5,58)), side of effect of antidepression treatment (p<0,05; OR=3,35; 95% CI (1,61 – 6,97)), Was advice of using medication (p<0,05; OR=2,15; 95% CI (1,36 – 3,4)) and belief about medications (p<0,05; OR=2,07; 95% CI (1,27 – 3,38)). No relationship was found between number of medications a day and number of times medication a day with antidepressant treatment.

Conclusion: Adherence to depressive medications was high in group patients: had incomes more than 5 millions dong, Who had distances less than or equal 10 kilometers, Who had not side of effects of medications, Who was adviced of using medications and Who had belief about medication.
