Abstract

Analysis to select gate type in tidal control barrage is a very important part. Not only to ensure the goals and tasks of the project, but the analysis and research of the type of valve gate must also consider to the impact of the architectural construction  and the operation of the gate to the surrounding landscape, especially in urban areas.

As a large-scale infrastructure and located in the central area of Ho Chi Minh City, the Ben Nghe tidal control barrage project is highly demanded in terms of architectural harmony in the overall surrounding infrastructure, structure layout. It not only ensures safety, meets goals, and is convenient for operation management, but also shows the modern imprint of the project.

The rotary secment gate selected by Hydraulics constrution Institute to design for the project with an aperture of 40m is a type of bow valve that can rotate 1800 depending on the task requirements when operating. This is a special type of gate valve that has been applied to Thames barrage tidal dam (England), the boat gate for  Ems dam (Germany) and for the first time applied in Vietnam, the gate has superiority and architectural harmony. and is the highlight of the landscape for the project area.
