Abstract

In order to provide scientific and practical bases to clarify and perfect the legal regulations on the scope of flood drainage space on the Red River system as well as other rivers, this article has raised the research results with new arguments about the actual flood drainage space, it clarifies the role of flood drainage space and proposes ways to define the main flood drainage areas within the flood drainage space . The results of this study are the basis for making solutions to manage and use floodplain to ensure flood drainage and meet the requirements of population and economic development on some floodplain.
